Food Banks, Food Distribution Services & Food Bank Collections

There are a number of food banks and food distribution services in the London Borough of Ealing; as well as food bank collection points.

Some existed before the Coronavirus crisis, others are in development or have stepped up their services or extended their criteria to help more people at this time, and in particular, vulnerable members of the community and those suffering hardship.

If you hear about any services not listed here - please email us and tell us about them so we can list them here and help more people.

Salma Food Bank

Salma Food bank was started in memory of Salma Parveen by her sons.

Although Salma Food Bank originated and is based in Smethwick, West Midlands - they now cover parts of West London helping vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food supplies while a longer-term solution is developed, with a open door policy to who ever needs food.

There is a limited service during the COVID19 outbreak, supplying people with families and the elderly until further notice.

Ealing Food Bank

Ealing Food Bank works via a voucher referral system. Referrals can be made to the Food bank by your job centre worker, social worker, local welfare assistance team or other professional you are working with. Click here to find out more. Ealing Soup Kitchen

Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help vulnerable and homeless people in the area. The charity offers a drop-in service on a Friday where people can shower, get a haircut, have a cup of tea, get help with understanding benefits, letters from the council and filling in forms.

Ealing Together

Ealing Together is a collaboration between local community and voluntary groups, Ealing Council and other public services and concerned residents that want to help.

Acton Homeless Concern

Acton Homeless Concern is a local charity with two drop in day centres providing basic need services and advice and support.

Bollo Brook Youth Centre (Felix Project)

The staff and young people of Bollo Brook Youth Centre are working with The Felix Project to sort and distribute essential food parcels to vulnerable residents in the area.

The centre is open on Tuesday and Friday from 1pm for donations of food and bags for life. Collections can be arranged for larger donations.

The food is sorted by the young people from Bollo Brook youth centre, working carefully to respect social distancing rules and distributed to more than 250 people; mainly older residents, single mums on low budgets and those with health conditions.

Accessing Free School Meals

If your child normally receives free school meals, they will be offered vouchers to buy food at supermarkets (participating in the free school meal scheme), food packages or meals, to ensure they continue receiving this support even if they are not at school due to the coronavirus outbreak.
