Support for Professionals (CPD)

Last updated 02/03/2023

There are a number of services and provisions offering outreach and training to professionals within education settings in Ealing to ensure that children and young people's needs can be met.

Ealing's special schools aim to support inclusion and quality first teaching for children with special educational needs and disabilites (SEND) in all mainstream nurseries, schools and other settings.

Empowering Language Training Resource Video

This training resource video tool was co-produced by Harvey Duncan, an apprentice for the Family Information Service, Youth Service Teams and young people with additional needs at Westside Centre. The video aims to be a training tool for professionals or family workers who are assigned to or working with young people with additional needs and/or disabilities.

This engaging video, narrated by YP, models good communication practice and clearly demonstrates (through different scenarios), how professionals  talking to young people with a disability or additional needs  can create an interactional environment  that positively supports YP to feel welcome and empowered within today's society. We hope you find this video helpful.

 Please see the video below:

If you are interested in knowing more about the training resource video, please get in touch by contacting Harvey Duncan at: duncanh@ealing.gov.uk or the Family Information Service at: children@ealing.gov.uk
