Ealing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)- Learning Disabilities Team

We are a CAMHS team offering assessment and intervention for children and young people (aged 0-18 years) who have a diagnosis of Learning Disability or Global Developmental Delay and mental health difficulties and/or significant challenging behaviour. We also offer consultation and training to parents, carers, schools and other professionals supporting the child.

Referral Criteria

To be referred to the team children/young people must meet all of the following referral criteria:

  • Have an Ealing GP
  • Age 0-18 years
  • Have a diagnosis of Learning Disability** or Global Developmental Delay or Complex Physical Disabilities

and

  • Have mental health difficulties or significant challenging behaviour that cannot be supported by more universal services.
  • Parents (or young person if over 16) have consented to the referral

**The  team use the WHO definition of a Learning Disability (IQ below 70, significant impairment in adaptive living skills, and difficulties present since childhood). The team will also accept referrals for all children attending an Ealing LA Special School (i.e. Springhallow, Belvue, St Ann’s, Castlebar, Mandeville and John Chilton special schools).

Who is in the team?

The Ealing CAMHS-LD team is made up of Clinical Psychologists, a Consultant Psychiatrist, and a Learning Disability/Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.

How to make a referral

A referral form is available by contacting a member of the CAMHS-LD team. We recommend you discuss the child/young person with a member of the team before referring.

Who to contact

The CAMHS-LD team are part of Ealing CAMHS, but are based within Ealing Services for Children with Additional Needs (ESCAN).
