Swapping out sugar 

*The maximum daily amounts of sugar for children are:

4 to 6 years- 5 cubes (19 grams)

7 to 10 years- 6 cubes (24 grams)

11+ years- 7 cubes (30 grams)

Get quick and easy healthy tips and recipes  

You can download Change4Lifes Free Smart recipes app so you can always have healthy recipe ideas at your fingertips.

The app even provides a shopping list so you know just what you will need for each recipe.

You can also sign up to their Cook Together newsletter- where every week for 4 weeks, you'll get sent 2 tasty, healthy recipes with easy to follow instructions, and a shopping list of all the ingredients you'll need to cook a healthy meal.

After 4 weeks you'll know how to cook up to 8 different meals from scratch.

A.L.F.I.E Programme in Ealing

The ALFIE programme provides fun and informative nutrition based interactive workshops combined with physical activity.

We cover topics such as the eat well guide, portion sizes, label reading and fats and sugars which is always followed up with different sporty challenges, exercises classes or interactive games.

The Healthy Weight Team deliver a range of ALFIE healthy lifestyle programmes to support children aged 5 – 16 years and families to be healthier and fitter.

The ALFIE 5-13 programme is a multi-component 10-week weight management programme focusing on motivating children and the whole family to explore healthier lifestyle choices together, by showing them how even making small changes can make a big difference. The sessions are based around fun and interactive workshops on healthy eating and nutrition, covering topics such as food groups, portion sizes and label reading. Children and families also take part in physical activities such as multi-skilled sports, Junior Gym and HIIT classes; these sessions help improve fitness and build confidence in a safe / structured environment.

The new ALFIE Teen programme for those aged 14-16 years is now up and running. The combination of an instructed gym session & a nutrition/wellbeing workshop is a great way to boost the confidence and knowledge of teenagers. The 6-week programme is eligible to all teens looking to improve their health & wellbeing and includes topics such as portions sizes, sugars, mindful eating & body image.

Our next programmes start in January 2023. The programme is free of charge and will take place face to face across Ealing borough. We accept all referrals, for more information please contact the team on clcht.ealinghealth4life@nhs.net.

ALFIE Mini’s 2-4yrs

The Healthy Weight Team are running new programmes for children aged 2-4 years. ALFIE Mini’s helps families learn more about healthy eating, the right portion sizes to give children; shopping on a budget, meal planning, recipe and snack ideas; and tips to encourage fussy eaters. There will also be active play and food fun sessions for children and families to enjoy.
Programmes will start in January 2023 and run each week across Ealing borough.
