Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities is a parenting programme which explores the way families communicate and the influence that wider culture and community can have on your family.
What does the programme cover?
This programme promotes positive relationships for you and your children, teaching effective discipline methods to provide you with the confidence and skills to make life at home more manageable. The model aims to reduce violent behaviours at home and within the community, focusing on managing children to make the community safer.
Exploring concerns relating to mental health and managing feelings will also be covered within the programme.
Topics include but are not limited to ;
• managing anger
• developing empathy
• violence prevention techniques
• understanding behaviour
• emotional management
• social skills
Who can attend the programme?
The programme is targeted at parents/carers of children/young people aged 3-19 years old. There are also targeted programmes aimed at parents/carers of children/young people who may be displaying challenging behaviour:
How many sessions are there?
SFSC Strengthening families Strengthening communities is a 13- week programme.- there are 13 sessions in total each lasting 3 hours (with a 15 minute break). You will receive certification once you have completed the programme.
How can I access the programme ?
You can speak to a professional working with you/your family such as a teacher, SENCO, family support worker etc.
They can make a referral on your behalf by contacting Ealing Children's Integrated Response Service(ECIRS). If you prefer, you can contact the team directly to make a referral.
