A.L.F.I.E Healthy Families Programme

The Healthy Families team are currently delivering a range of virtual ALFIE programmes  for overweight children aged 5 - 13 years (a parent / carer must be present).

The programmes will be delivered via BlueJeans (similar to Zoom) and as usual will include nutrition topics such as food groups, portion sizes and label reading; as well as home work outs with our physical activity lead.

The programmes will include a 1:1 appointment (again via BlueJeans) where families get to meet the team, learn more about what to expect on the programme (including a set of ground rules for staying safe online) and start to set their own individualised SMART Goals; this will be followed by weekly (or daily for ALFIE 5 day summer bootcamps) group sessions with other families.

Our next programmes take place over the 'Summer Holidays' and will be a virtual 5 day Bootcamp. This is a great opportunity for families to get fitter, healthier and more active together. We will also be running virtual 10 week programmes again from the end of September.

The ALFIE (Active Living fun Food in Ealing)  healthy families programme is a free, fun and interactive healthy lifestyle programme for children who are above a healthy weight (overweight) for their age;  we deliver programmes in age groups 5-10 years and 11-13 years

The aim of ALFIE is to support children and families to be HEALTHIER and FITTER; sessions focus on motivating children and the whole family to explore healthier lifestyle choices and how small changes can make a big difference. Sessions are include fun and interactive workshops on healthy eating and nutrition, covering topics such as food groups, portion sizes and label reading. Children and families also take part in physical activities such as multi-skilled sports, Junior Gym and HIIT classes; these classes are a great way to increase physical activity levels in a fun, structured environment.

Programmes take place across Ealing and are delivered by qualified nutrition and physical activity professionals.

Please note this programme is free of charge, places are limited and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
