Ealing has a vast range of health services for children and young people from 0-25 years including GPs, pharmacists, dental services, optometrists and hospital services (including urgent care/accident and emergency) available to everyone based on the individual’s health needs.
Children with special educational needs and disabilities are able to access these services directly without needing to go through any kind of referral. These services are known as ‘universal’ in that they are available to everyone.
To find your nearest GP, dentist or pharmacist, enter your postcode on the NHS Choices search page.
Early Start Ealing is part of our health services offer for all children under five. Early Start's services include access to health visitors, community nurses and family outreach workers through Ealing's children's centres and other community settings.

Specialist Health Services
Ealing Service for Children with Additional Needs (ESCAN) is a multi-agency service run by the NHS and Ealing Council that acts as a single point of contact for information, referrals, assessments and appropriate help for children and young people with disabilities living the borough.
ESCAN is based at Carmelita House near Ealing Broadway station. The building offers access to services and facilities such as treatment rooms and resources such as the patient information room with internet access.
Referrals to ESCAN normally come through GPs, health visitors, the NHS or SEN workers in schools. However, access and eligibility to these services vary – you will need to contact ESCAN directly or the service directly - if you would like to know how to refer children and young people.
ESCAN is made up of:
Children and Families Social Care
