Apply For a School Place

There are two types of primary school admission - main round admissions and in-year admissions.

It is important that you know what type you are applying for:

Main round admissions

Main round admissions apply to the ‘main intake’ of pupils who are due to start school in September. This applies to children who are aged 3 and ready to start primary school, and children in year 6 who are ready to start secondary school.

In-year admissions

In-year admissions apply to all pupils who are applying for a school place outside of the ‘main intake’ of pupils, including:

  • Pupils who are out of school and require an immediate school place in Ealing.
  • Pupils who are currently attending a school but want to transfer to a different school.

Main round admissions

Main round applications must be made directly to the local authority in which you live, regardless of which borough your preferred school is in. The deadline for applying for primary school for 2019 is 15 January 2019 and October 31st 2018 for secondary school places.

You can apply for your school place online or pick up an application form from Ealing Council’s School Admission team or your child’s nursery

Before you apply please download a relevant school prospectus and step by step guide for making your online application. These contain important information on the admissions process and give details to help you choose the best primary or secondary school for your child.

In-year applications

In-year applications can also be made online, alternatively you can contact the in-year admissions team on 020 8825 6339 for more information. When making an in-year application you should check to see which schools still have places and if you are in a priority area as this may dictate the school in which you are able to place your child. You can check vacancies for both primary and secondary schools here.

Guidance on how to make an in-year application can be found here.
